Connect Africa rocket stoves provide a cleaner, safer, more efficient way to cook food than traditional stoves. Northern Ugandans spend approximately one quarter of their income on cooking fuel and are often burned by cooking on traditional three-rock stoves that are prone to spilling.

Connect Africa’s rocket stoves are made from recycled oil drums and cracked ISSB bricks that would otherwise be discarded. This new technology efficiently cooks food by containing heat around all sides of the pot and eliminates noxious smoke inhalation caused by traditional stoves. This process uses approximately 1/7th the fuel of traditional stoves, allowing northern Ugandans to cook for a week on the same amount of fuel that would normally last them a day. By concentrating the heat and allowing the outside of the stove to remain cool, rocket stoves also reduce the number of accidents and burns while simultaneously accelerating the cooking process.
